Summary
In the Medieval Times, there was a knight that was accustomed to love, all of which he proved to his lady by only supplying her with the “best.” The knight and his lady later married, upon which he escorted her back to his homeland to live with him in his castle. A while later, the knight, who was known as Arvéragus Of Caer-rhud, left for two years to travel to Britain, all of which he left his wife, Dorigein. He would send his maiden letters, thus leading her only to experience more heartbreak.
The wife’s close acquaintances, saw that she was still grieving over the longing of her husband and tried to aid her by telling her to get out of the castle from time to time. She would walk by the waters edge, which only caused her sorrow to deepen and cause her to experience more times of grief. She went to a dance, where she searched hopelessly for a trace of her husband. Without success yet again, she found a young squire, Aurelius, who wanted to fall in love with her. She, on the other hand, did not wish that, but told him that if he could move all the rocks off the coast of Brittany, she would perhaps fall in love with him. The squire then proceeded to asking Lord Protheus to help him move the rocks, all because he believed he was in love. When the Lord did not do so, he mourned until his brother was able to soothe him enough with his company. The squire then proceeded to asking a magician to help him move the rocks along the shoreline, all of which he finished successfully.
The knight had returned to his homeland, only to find that his wife had been unfaithful to him while he was away. He then told his wife that she did not deserve his love because she had not kept the promise of love. The wife, however, thought things through, and decided to stay affectionate towards Arvéragus, upon which he demanded that she stay devoted in their relationship when he leaves again. The couple proceeded to live life happily in the company of one another.
